After doing really nothing useful in Mancora - besides sitting on the beach, swimming, drinking too much cervezas and eating too much unhealthy food - we took the bus towards Ecuador!!! Yes my 6th country on this epic journey! From Mancora we took a bus to Sullana and from there a crappy bus - Loja Internationale - to Loja. We crossed the border at Macara which is according to the book the best way to go to Ecuador. Around half past one we arrived at the border.. got out of the bus.. got our exit stamp of Peru.. walked over the bridge to Ecuador.. got our entry stamp.. and there we were, in fucking ECUADOR!!!!
The bus ride to Loja was rough. I managed to get some sleep, but it wasn`t much more than an hour, spread over the entire 8 hour journey. Once in Loja, we took a minibus to Vilcabamba, a small village in a beautiful valley. We checked in at hostel Izhcayluma which is about 2 km outside of the town. The hostel had a wonderful view over the valley and village. A perfect place to spend some days.
I was pretty tired but didn`t want to go to sleep, so we had some breakfast, and started the Izhcayluma hike. Our hostel provides everyone with a couple of maps of treks they set out in the area. Perfect! Our hike for this day took about 4 hours and gave us some nice views of the area. The highest point was around 2000 meters. It was an easy hike but with a sleepless night after us good enough.
Once back at the hostel I took a little nap, I just had to recover! The hostel has also a very good restaurant so we didn`t had to get into town. During diner we met some fellow travellers and together with them we went to the bar, which is also at the hostel. Wonderfull! The bar had cocktails, a pool table, a pingpong table, darts, a TV,… so after a couple of cervezas we played all together a round of pingpong.
The next morning me, David and two other girls went for the waterfall hike which was an easy walk with a nice waterfall at the end. That evening we ate again at the hostel and ended up in the Izhcayluma bar playing pingpong and pool.
We had two really nice days in Vilcabamba and hostel Izhcayluma is definitely a recommendation! It`s run by a swiss couple and you will find a lot of swiss people here. The breakfast - which is included in the price - is also perfect! So far Ecuador is wonderful!! Can`t wait for what else Ecuador had to offer.
Oh and btw, why is Ecuador so clean?? Well, I like! :)

The next day David showed up in Mancora and I switched to hostal Loki, a much better choice!! Loki was totally full, packed with backpackers. Super chill hotel with huge swimming pool. Also a direct port to the beach. Perfect! So we spent two days doing again absolutly nothing! I was lying on the beach or at the pool the hole day, drinking and eating, and in the evening we had a great party. The nightlife in Mancora starts late, but I managed to make a 5 o`clock night! Pff had to recover the next day.
I arrived in hostel Joseline - which is absolutely a recommendation! - I joined the early breakfast and came in contact with some dutch people! Carla from ’s-Hertogenbosch and Kirsten from Haarlem - my hometown! They were speaking about doing the
Besides walking from one camping to another we did some side trips, one of them was the 5104m high San Antonio. The hike up was pretty hard, but once up there the views where amazing again! Really worth going up there.
